An optometrist is a health care professional who has earned a degree of Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) after completing a course of study at an approved college of optometry. Optometrists begin their training with completion of a Bachelor’s degree program at an undergraduate college followed by four years at an accredited college of optometry.
Dr. Sharon Edwards is a 1997 graduate of the University of Houston College of Optometry. She has been practicing at First Eye Care since graduation. In July 2018, Dr. Edwards took the next step and purchased the practice she loves. She completed externships in Corneal Ocular Disease in Dallas, Texas and Primary Eye Care at Pearl Harbor Naval Medical Clinic in Honolulu, Hawaii. She is currently a licensed Therapeutic Optometrist and is board certified as an Optometric Glaucoma Specialist.
When not busy with work, Dr. Edwards enjoys live music, golf, traveling, scuba diving and spending time with her husband, Donnie and their 3 pot-bellied pigs, 2 bulldogs, and African Grey Parrot Coco.
Dr. Rachel Butler is a 2022 graduate from the University of Houston College of Optometry. She grew up locally in Fort Worth, Texas and attended Texas Christian University for her undergraduate degree. She completed internships for ocular disease at Community Eye Clinic in Fort Worth and for primary eye care at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego, California.
Dr. Butler is a therapeutic optometrist who specializes in primary eye care, fitting of glasses and contacts, and diagnosis of ocular diseases. Her passion is providing eye care to the whole family and all ages starting as young as five years old.
Dr. Butler recently moved back to Fort Worth with her fiancé and is excited to start seeing patients in the area and call it home. In her free time, Dr. Butler enjoys traveling and staying active.
